About Dr. Leeth Dr. Leeth keeps himself busy with optometry outside the office as well. He has served on the Virginia Optometric Association executive committee and as president of the Shenandoah Valley Optometric Society. Keeping up with the latest in eyecare is a passion of his, and Dr. Leeth feels that the most important thing a doctor must do is to stay current with the latest knowledge and treatment options to give his patients the very best care with the most current treatment methods known. Dr. Leeth was awarded the American Optometric Association's Optometric Recognition Award for obtaining more than 150 hours of continuing education in less than 3 years. He also belongs to the American Optometric Association, the Virginia Academy of Optometry, and the Orthokeratology Academy of America. Dr. Leeth opened his optometric practice in 1973, after graduating from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. He grew up in the Augusta County area and wanted to return to his beautiful home area. His practice has grown from a small, three room office with one employee (his wife, Jan) to a busy, thriving practice with six employees. His desire has always been to use the latest in high tech instruments while spending quality time with patients discussing their problems and recommended treatment. For this reason, he named the practice Vision Tech Optometry Center and adopted the slogan "Modern Eye Care - Old Fashioned Caring". His staff enjoys making friends with our patients; their friendly, caring attitude makes our patient's visits enjoyable. Away from the office, he has served as president of the Waynesboro Kiwanis Club and stays busy in church activities. As for hobbies, he enjoys electronics, computers, travel and aviation as a private pilot. His oldest son, Bryan, caught the aviation bug and is now a pilot for Southwest Airlines. Lindy, his daughter, is the revenue service manager in the Omni Hotel company. John Alex, his youngest child, has graduated from Virgina Tech and has his own company in orthopedic sales. Dr. Leeth and his wife Jan live in Waynesboro and enjoy this wonderful part of the country. He looks forward to meeting you and serving your eye care needs.
